KGL Contest

KGL Contest is the fastest-growing competition available globally and organized by the International Testing Authority. It aims to prepare students for future language assessments as well as encourage English Language learning. KGL motivates students through rewarding fun contests which are of the highest quality and standards.

Contest levels

It has five levels – Pre-A1, A1, A2, B1, and B2 which are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Ages per level

KGL can be taken by students up to the age of 17 provided they are learning English as a second language. Check the Contest Rules

Practice Tests

Students need to practice for Stage 1 tests to identify which level they can join by visiting kglcontest.com/practicetestsl

Contest Stages

  • Stage 1: Held in Saudi Arabia and the test consist of multiple-choice questions and reading passages. Depending on your level, you’ll have either 45 or 60 minutes to complete the test. It is available for all levels and all registered students.
  • Stage 2 is a more comprehensive challenge and also will be held in Saud Arabia and consist of multiple-choice questions, reading passage, complete one writing task and listening. It is available for all levels and best qualified students from Stage 1. The duration of Stage 2 varies based on your level, ranging from 60 to 90 minutes.

Based on the stage 2 results, the national winners can be identified and the global finalist will be announced.

  • In Stage 3, national finalists excluding Pre-A1 level are invited to join the winners from other countries for a three day event and participate in the Global Winner contest.

Contest prizes

  • The names of the winner’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and commended contestants are announced following stage 2. The winners from Stage 2 will receive the following awards:

  • In the Stage 3 or Global Event Test, medal, trophy and monetary prize are awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place contestants at each level based on overall performance.

1st Place – 500 USD

2nd Place – 250 USD

3rd Place – 150 USD

Overall winner – 1,000 USD
